Sexual Harassment & Discrimination: Wormtown Brewery’s ownership steps back amid allegations of workplace misconduct.

Four of the five members of Wormtown’s ownership group have stepped away from day-to-day operations as the company investigates allegations that managers made inappropriate sexual and racist comments to staff. And now two former employees are considering legal action against Wormtown, saying they were victims of discrimination. The dramatic fallout comes amid an international reckoning over the way women and other underrepresented groups have been treated in the craft beer industry. Teacher Abuse: Lawsuit filed vs. L.A. teacher Michael Guzman

Ashley Pileika represents survivors in a lawsuit against the Los Angeles Unified School District and former teacher and coach, Michael Guzman. As reported by Noah Goldberg of the Los Angeles Times, Guzman was arrested earlier this month.“An overarching objective of Maria and Clarissa in coming forward is to ensure what happened to them does not happen to others. The grooming, the trauma — the lifelong impact of child sexual abuse is real, and victims deserve justice,” said Ashley Pileika. “We are grateful to the LAPD and [the L.A. County district attorney’s] office for prioritizing this case and the safety of children in the greater Los Angeles community.”

Child Sex Abuse: Lawsuit filed against musician Sting, The Police, and touring company.

As reported by Erasmus Baxter of the Phoenix New Times, a child sexual abuse survivor filed a lawsuit in federal court in Arizona against Gordon Sumner a/k/a Sting. The suit alleges Sting committed statutory rape by having sex with 15-year-old “Jane Doe.” Ashley Pileika, one of the three attorneys behind the suit, said that while Doe soon told people about what happened, it took her a long time to realize how harmful it had been because her friends glorified the alleged assault.

Title IX: 7 more women joining lawsuit over sexual assault complaints at Loyola University.

A federal lawsuit in Chicago alleges Loyola “mishandled and underreported” sexual assault complaints since 2011.“Allowing a university to conduct its own internal investigation is very problematic," said attorney Ashley Pileika, who represents three women suing the university. Pileika says seven more current and former students are joining in the lawsuit this week bringing the total to 10 women. As reported by Patrick FazioLisa Capitanini and Katy Smyser of NBC 5 Chicago.
